
HP’s first ever HD100 is an external HD-DVD drive, which may hit the market at the end of this year. The HD100 DVD-ROM plugs into PC’s USB 2.0 port and can read HD DVDs, DVDs and CDs with speed of 2.4x for HD-DVD, 5x for DVD and 14x for CD.
For HD playback, you will need a Pentium single-core 840 3.2Ghz or a AMD 64 X2 2.2Ghz along with a nVidia GeForce 7600GT or ATI X1600. Its external output for your TV will need a HDMI or HDCP-compliant DVI-D connection. Price is not available.
