The USB Implementers Forum has endorsed a new arrangement for micro USB connectors, which will support USB technology in mobile phones and next-gen portable devices or gadgets and replace almost all the Mini-series plugs that are employed in small or compact devices.
Featuring Micro-B receptacles for standard devices and Micro-AB receptacles for OTG devices, together with Micro-A, Micro-B plugs and standard cables, the Approve Micro-USB Connector Specification will offer extra portable devices to correspond with each other, in case of the non availability of PC or while traveling far off places.
Jeff Ravencraft, USB-IF chairman and president, said in a report:
As portable devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, and digital cameras get smaller and more compact, manufacturers recognized the need for a new USB connector specification to suit the design of these new products.
